I’m looking for recommendations on a GPU for my machine.
I’m running Linux, so AMD would be better. I’d like it to be plug and play
Basically, I want a very light cheap graphics card with 2 display ports at least, single slot, which I can use to drive my two 3440x1440 & 1920X1080 displays. Basically desktop + Youtube only. Efficient would be good
This would be the first GPU so that I can pass through the second, powerful one for gaming
I really only wanted to have a single GPU, but it looks like this is the only way (I want to stream games to a different room for my kids using moonlight while I work etc).
I’m currently doing this with an AMD RV620, but I am having all sorts of issues. Distorted display if the resolutions are high, no audio, moonlight wont launch
I’m doing this with the iGPU on my 7950X, so I imagine you can just grab whichever GPU is cheapest and it’ll do YouTube on 2x4k just fine. RX6400 for example. It’s got 4k on all ports, and is available as a single slot half-height card.
If you want 60hz on 4k resolutions you need something from the rx480 generation of GPUs, probably a 460 will do
460 will be gcn 4.0 and all the other models under it will be 1.0 rebrands
You might could go older but I think 460 would be great
With the right passive dvi to HDMI adapter you can get HDMI 2.0 out of the dvi port as well
Radeon Pro WX 2100 is single slot and goes for about 30 pounds on eBay. Single slot, low profile, no extra power input, three DisplayPorts, Polaris generation.
There are also an array of “Embedded” low-power cards that AMD released such as the E9173, E9260, and E9390 which AMD shows as using the amdgpu 5.15.0 kernel driver. The E9390 is effectively a WX 5100 (limited to 75W slot power) on standard drivers.
So you have kernel driver
The driver from AMD and you can specify whether or not to use the pro version and all the pro version does enable use with certain programs for hw acceleration
