Lga 2011 cpu

I was planning on building a LGA 1155 build, but then i got a really good deal on a brand new MB, so much that my original CPU budget, got bumped up to the price of a 3930K. So should I go with my original plan of getting a 3770K, or should I get a 2011 CPU. This is going to be redering/editing rig.

go 2011, you need those extra 2 cores, espicially for edditing, also make sure your ram has the best cas timming possible once again for the purpose of editting

not really, quadcores are still fine in editing, plus 6 cores come at a huge price increase, and 2011 boards start at about 3x the price of 1155 boards

but, if your looking at the same price for both build, go for the 6 core for sure

I was thinking about some 32GB Cas9 1866 ram, should i go something else

If you feel that 10-20 frame bump costs $200ish more for the CPU and a little more on an LGA 2011 mobo, then do it

Since when is editing and rendeing measured in frames??

that would be good

yeah seems good, if you can get some 2133 stick's with the same cas 9 or lower then do that

But i should do Cas9>2133 right?

"and 2011 boards start at about 3x the price of 1155 boards" no, just no. more like double. the cheapest 1155 board iv seen is £72, the cheapest 2011 X79 board iv seen is £143. so if you plan on spending at least £143 (or what ever currency your using) on a motherboard its not a problem.

and yes the extra 2 cores comes at a prenium, but they are worth it espicially if you are edditting and gamming and not just doing one or the other as benefits stack up to justify the purchase.

yes you should, if you can afford it. do it. you wont be dissapointed. the cas is more important for edditing and mhz is is more important for gamming. but they benefit the other deparments too

my bad, I'm so used to people saying gaming/editing I skim through threads

Try the Mushkin redline, it has Cas7, but its 1866, I believe cas is what you want more for editing

well if you wanted to go all out you can always get some 2400mhz or 2600mhz quad channel ram, the cas is'nt as good as the lower clocked stuff. but at those speeds it just does'nt matter anymore. it will trouse any cas 9 or 7 ram. just a mention
