One issue with driverless car hype is that itās been hype every single time. They keep saying that they are ahead of what they can actually do. It is moving forward just fine; but the skepticism is something that they have brought on themselves by consistent overhyping.
Also with vehicles in particular, safety does kind of sellā¦ but not really. Itās not top 5 and maybe even not top 10. This is a problem because almost everyone thinks they are an uncommonly safe driver whether or not itās true.

That reminds me of the struggle over privacy vs provenance in the nascent stage of internet 2.0. Jaron Lanier suggested that his stance for privacy was probably the wrong decision. In his defense, the copy paste aspect of the internet hasnāt just been disruptive. Itās actually been destructive in many markets. If there were feasible, near term contingencies, I might say he was wrong; but there just wasnāt.
Sharing is a good thing; but breaking established complexity is potentially dangerous. One could share themselves into having nothing to share from some of their favorite creators. It has ended the momentum of many creative works. The markets just need time to adapt.

Listened to that magic man track. Not a bad beat, but the lyrics are nonsensical.
So that memo as far as I remember was basically just explaining how men/women think different on average, and gave advice on how to get women into tech that didnāt involve any forced diversity quotas.
Then the press for whatever reason tried to destroy him, plenty of actual fake news related to that.
Meanwhile in the actual memo that they didnāt read and the initial reporting had altered to remove the source links.
