In patreon can you make like 1 a year / 6 month groups, figure its better to give my 1 year worth up front to save you guys on the fee? Or is ti only a monthly service?

The HR bot seems to be inspired from Blade Runner

Captain Picard did swear in French a few times on the Next Generation. He has said “merde” on a few different occasions, which is French for “shit”.

But no, obviously f-bombs were never dropped.

The Quentin Tarantino thing is weird. But to be honest, I don’t think Paramount Pictures has any idea what they are doing as a movie studio anymore.

2016 and 2017 has been some horrible years for this studio. The last Star Trek movie they released didn’t perform at the box office the way they would have liked it to. Plus they have released a lot of stinkers like Zoolander 2, Ben-Hur (2016), Monster Trucks, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, Ghost in the Shell, and Baywatch. The majority of their movies are met with terrible box office returns, and in some cases they lost great deals of money with expensive garbage like the Ben Hur remake and Monster Trucks. Even the latest movie in their cash cow franchise Transformers didn’t hit targeted projections… it still made money, but diminishing returns compared to previous entries.

Paramount is on shaky grounds, and they are just throwing anything at the wall to see if it will stick, at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised if Paramount was sold off or was bought out by another company within the next five or ten years. Which would put the Star Trek franchise up for grabs.

10110100?

All screws aside, Amazon in AU seems to be working well enough. I bought some stuff (Maybe a switch), paid for fast postage and got it pretty fast. It was cheaper than other places, well packaged. I am sure they will dominate Australia online retailing. Most places start up with cheap prices, but over time they tend to jack them up and end up being no different than the rest. There are quite a few discount online retailers that offer random goods at cheap prices, and when they get a rabid fan base, offer special goods at normal prices. Worth double checking.

Whats up with that Bezos guy anyway? Why does he have massive Popeye forearms? Does he personally pack all of the boxes?

As for the whole bitcoin nicehash thing, I have about $10 in limbo. Not sure if I will ever see it. I don’t think it is bitcoin’s fault that all of their crap got stolen. Where there is a large pile of valuable stuff that is not well protected, people will try and steal it. And as @ryan mentioned, those who know the system well have the ability to game it. Adding the ability to reverse transactions could just add a different avenue of attack. Like the old RPG “Buy some stuff from a vendor and pickpocket your money back”.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The 4k bitcoins are still sitting in the same wallet. It will be interesting to see how Nicehash get them back. For 85 million bucks, you’d try everything including hiring hit-men, wouldn’t you? Maybe a mechanic?

hodl?

35c for every $1 patreon you have, so if your supporting a bunch at $1 each, 35c for each is added to how much you’ll pay every month.

yeah prob gonna drop a bunch of them, greedy ass patreon

Timestamped

Yeah, it is going to sting quite a few youtubers that live off the “$1” tier from multiple supporters.

if they change i will go back to supporting more people prob gonna drop down to 2 people

really good break down on why / how it works like it does with new changes

Google vs. Amazon

Oswald Gobblepot vs. Lex Luther

building permits for gotham are suplied by the Goblin ( ajit pai)

On a serieus note, if there is a better way of sponsoring L1T than patreon please let us know i hate to waste money on a third party.

from what i am seeing its 35cents + % of donation

I’m far from considering myself a BTC expert, but I think there is not (and should not) be the option to roll a transaction back. BTC considers the owner of the private key as the owner of the wallet and it is up to the user to keep this private key safe. From am mathematical standpoint, calculating (read: brute forcing) a private key for a given public key is nigh impossible.

afaik as soon as 51% of the network say a transaction never happened, it didn’t happen.

As someone who was finally going to start to support some of the content creators with direct donations I’m now waiting this out to see what solutions come forward.

Oh wow… Tarantino doing Star Trek. I could see it now:

Jimmie- “Did my hailing frequency say dead Klingon storage” Kirk - “No Sir… it did not”, Jimmie = “You wanna know why I didn’t hail that?” Kirk - “Why?” Jimmie - " 'cause storing dead Klingons ain’t my fuckin business!"

Ending made me low pitch giggle :relieved:

I’d much rather donate 10-20% of my idle CPU time to monero mining. The computer is mostly doing nothing anyway while I’m on here.

Regarding AI replication:

It’s important to remember that big tech isn’t working on strong AI. They are working on what is referred to as deep learning; but it’s still focused by human ambitions. It doesn’t have the autonomy to say… re-purpose the molecules of the entire universe toward the production of paperclips; as the old adage warns of. That would require autonomy being built into it with some sort of motivational system. It would also require an understanding of external problems that includes the ability to solve them; and it’s deep learning architecture is no where near that sophisticated.

The issue that is more likely with such AI projects is financial control. For instance the stock market is now pretty much automated. There is significant added stability; however it also helps wealthy people aggregate more wealth. This is one of the common trends that has been becoming increasingly prevalent in modern times. All technology has been aiding the aggregation of wealth.

Here is an article written by someone who is probably the leading researcher in strong AI;

http://hplusmagazine.com/2017/07/21/corporatization-ai-major-threat-humanity/

Ben Goertzel has been using narrowly focused projects to fund Open Cog (open cognition engine). He’s been involved with data mining, bioinformatics, Ai market analytics, AI in gaming, the list goes on. He’s owned several companies and is now the chief scientist of the AGI running Sophia. He’s seen the inside of all big tech companies and he’s a member of Elon Musk’s Open AI project. He’s now working on a safety net of sorts. He seems to be suggesting that accessibility is an immediate issue.
