I’m thinking about picking up a level 1 tech kvm. I will use it to switch back and forth between 2 computers and 2 monitors. I realize that there is a trade off between edid and freesync? Is there any way to have the best of both worlds? Could I just get the one that supports freesync and use that “persistent windows” program? Will that alleviate most of the negative symptoms of no EDID?
Thanks for the reply. Ideally, I’m just looking for a smooth transition between my work laptop and gaming computer. I have 3 monitors, but really only need to switch to for work. At the moment, my desktop connects via display port and my work surface connects thru usb c. Assuming I use persistent windows that covers my big concern. are there any other drawbacks/bottlenecks I could experience with this kvm?
I’m doing my best to future proof myself so is there any point in waiting a bit longer to purchase or should one of the dp 1.4 be good for the foreseeable future?
Ya’ll don’t run any blackfriday sales, right? Any scratch and dents/sales still ongoing?
I have some questions just to make sure I know all the info.
What resolution/Hz are you looking to run at?
What surface do you have?
Do you have a strange proprietary laptop scenario? For instance, the EDID KVM was partially made for users who have to use an Amazon ThinClient, Macs, Teradici, ZeroClient that sort of thing. If it’s just a normal laptop that your company loaned you, should be fine.
We actually have a new KVM model that might interest you! It’s a combo DisplayPort and USB-C. They’re not on the store yet, but they’re expected to be listed in October.
We actually have a 2 PC 3 Monitor version floating around the office I think. If you’re interested in it I can certainly see what Wendell thinks about getting it to you.
We actually do have some scratch and dents. The new KVMs I mentioned are not on this scratch & dent list since they’re not out yet.
I’ve since played around with the windows program you recommended and determined it’s sufficient for my needs so I think I’ll be exploring a KVM purchase
@Level1_Amber Thanks for the reply. My Surface has recently been replaced by an HP 840 elitebook.
I have two display port monitors at the moment that I’d like to use a kvm with. I also have a third vga monitor that makes me consider the three monitor models, but I don’t really need it for work and am leaning towards a two monitor model. I’m fine just using the third monitor for my personal pc (not needed for work)
What would you recommend for me? Also, any scratch and dents that would fit my needs at the moment?

Hey @Level1_Amber. I saw you merged my replies into this thread. I had only created a new thread since I had recently gotten a new work PC and the old thread seemed buried/dead.
I’ll hope this thread isn’t buried and hopefully get some feedback in here.
Nah it’s not buried. I don’t mind helping out. I was looking around the office today and I did find a scratch & dent 2 PC 2 Monitor 5GB as well as a 3 PC 2 Monitor. I can DM you pics if you’re interested in one of those. They’re both probably marked down around 10% off
@Level1_Amber Great, thanks! I’m interested in picking this up. I didn’t see any pictures of the front (where switch buttons are). How badly scraped up is that? I’m not too worried about the back.
Anyway, I’m interested in purchasing? How does the payment process work for scratch and dent? Also, what window do I have to return if it doesn’t work with my setup? I’m not getting my new laptop until the start of the year and am hesitant to purchase now if there is a short window?
