from what ive been hearing, AMD is supporting linux more, should be fun, all we need now is some cheaper AMD based Steam Machines and a comfy couch.

Ill be so happy :)

I would say that their effort for supporting linux is the same, but they are now supporting linux in a much more efficient way.

They still have a lot of work to do though. I do not think we will see the full fruits of AMDs work until kernel 4.10 comes out.

This is very nice to see. This makes it seem like maybe AMD is supporting alternative gaming (in reference to windows gaming), but also seems like they maybe responding to Steam in their call for development / support of Steam OS / Linux gaming. Maybe, or is it just wishful thinking?

Totally agree, freeing up driver resources by making the core driver open source leaves more time to make better hardware. AMD wins and users of all OSs win.
