Ok so I have had some basic experience in ubuntu when I created a minecraft server...very basic I know. However I need to learn some linux command like to get a co-op at school with the tech department. I have an old laptop that I can install some form of linux on. Anyways to the point is there any kind of basic server I can set up to get used to using command line?

Also, install a relatively hard to install distro in a virtual machine, something like Arch or Gentoo and it will soon get you comfortable with the command line, and try to do things from the command line and google them when stuck avoid using the GUI for things like copy/move/create new files/ install programs and you should be set.
Finally, check the videos by Nixie Pixel in the thread I gave you
So far, Arch seems to be the best distro for learning the command line. They have a great beginner's guide and it all uses the CLI.
