I've had bad experiences with Gigabyte mobos... I trust Asus cause I've used them on pretty much every build and never had a fail...
basically i'd agree with Warpig for the most part, but I feel like you can get more bang for buck using AMD GPUs and the Xigmatek fan is pretty but loud... Phanteks, Enermax, and Noctua make the best CPU air coolers... really depends on the importance of what you want it to look like after that...
I'd suggest a R9 280x for GPU... $30 more and a good bit better performance
On Newegg, that motherboard has over 1000 ratings and it's 4 out of 5 stars. I'd say that's pretty damn good. Plus, I'm going for a black themed build. And what's wrong with the 212 EVO? I've never heard any complaints about it?
Plus, the 280X is a bit out of my price range of $850.
the 280x should be around $300? the 290x might be that much... keep in mind I've heard a 290 can overclock to the specs of a 290x, but I'd need to see proof... so for an extra $130 you might could get a $500-600 GPU... you'd need to read into which can overclock to those specs however... I've heard it's limited to some regard...
but if you find a 7970 for mildly cheaper than a 280x just buy that... the r9 280x is a rebranded 7970 with upgrades that might futureproof it an extra month... they're basically interchangeable components....
And there's absolutely nothing wrong with a 212 EVO... the enermax will overperform it and look cooler in the process however (and it's in stock on NewEgg... trust me you DO NOT want to put together your PC and add a CPU air cooler later)
Yeah, the 280X is about 300 now. $50 more than my 760. If I put the 280X in my list, I'd be up to $900 when my budget is only $850. I think I'm going to stick with the 760 because from what I've seen, they usually have better/stable drivers and with the EVGA warranty, I don't have to worry about having a broken card.
if you've got something non-stock to overclock with.... you're good to go...
As far as budget and performance, and looking at $50... it's $50... and a 760 vs 280x is a pretty significant slide... I'm not some AMD fanboy or anything, but... if it's $50... splurge a little... you'll outlast that video card a good year on ultras... I mean seriously... a 280x will completely destroy a 760
I guess we'll see come Cyber Monday. I'm aware that the 280X will dominate the 760 but I don't really care. All I want to do is play my games a 1080p on High/Ultra at 30-60 FPS. Granted, DayZ is a bit buggy in large cities. But money's tight and I'm sure you understand that. I mean, $50 is 3/4 a tank of gas in my car (1970 Chevy Nova 396 in case you were wondering).
well if $50 is a big deal, then get a R9 270x... and save the $50... same basic bench... The difference between 270x < 760 is SIGNIFICANTLY less than 760 < 280x... the 280x is meant to compete with the 770
because it's more comparable to the 760 than the 760 is to the 280x... if money is a big concern... and you want bang for your dollar... it has more...
That's a really good build but I'm not a fan of XFX with all their locked voltages and cooling problems. Honestly, I'm happy with my initial build. Maybe I'll loose 5-10 FPS with your build but it doesn't bother me. My budget is $850 and I'm sticking to it. I have a gut feeling that I will be over satisfied with my build. I've never built a PC before so I'm not sure what to expect. But since I've been a member here, all the feedback I've gotten has made me confident that this build is good for me.
