Hey Guys/Gals of TekSyndicate, I'm looking at the Dark Knight FB edition for my 6300 rig, I want a great air cooler because this stock one isn't cutting it at all. My question is that I have a NZXT Source 210, that says it supports cpu heatsinks up to 160mm. According to Xigmatek their Dark Knight is 159Mm tall (w/o Fan) Is it Possible that it won't fit with the fan? Anyone happen to have a similar situation like me to shed some light on it? If not i was thinking the Loki or something smaller, I'm not looking to overclock alot other than what my MSI OC Genie Can put up for me so i don't need anthing SUPER fantastic, I just love the look of the Dark knight and the FB edition would go good w/ my case/theme i guess. Any help would be really appreciated thanks guys(and ladies)
Well, I don't think the Dark Knight is a great cooler, but probably more than enough if you aren't going for hefty OC's. I have the original, which is holding my 2500k at ~42c over ambient (up to 68c since my room gets hot) @ 4.5GHz, and I doubt any auto OC will get you close to that. You're probably looking at 4.2GHz, maybe a little more. The Dark Knight, at least in my opinion, is more about aesthetics than cooling performance, though it's not a bad performer, but there are better in the price range.
anyways, it will be a tight squeeze, but it should fit. With the fan mounting mechanism (rubbers that mount to individual fins), you should be able to mount the fans as high or low as you want.
