Hey guys, computer science student here who'd love some advice and suggestions.
I'm looking for your choices for laptops in the £500 (821.156 USD) and £1000 (1,642.26 USD) price points. I might be managing to convince my university to change from the existing Samsung Smart Tablet and Apple iPad options they offer to students for something more practical. You can definitely take notes on an iPad with a bit of discomfort but essays or anything serious require something a bit less flashy and a bit more able to do work.
So for this I want your opinions. If you had to buy a laptop that from either of those two price points what would you choose? It has to be quite versatile but the most important points are ergonomics because a bad keyboard makes for a bad laptop and reliability because these laptops have to last student life. They have to be proven to last.
Currently I've been thinking Lenovo and primarily the Thinkpad series as an option but if you think you have a better idea please tell me :)
Thanks for your time, guys. I love The Tek. Wendell is my hero but I don't think this is curious enough to post for inbox.exe.
Check out the laptops from Gigabyte, some are really nice. If you don't plan on gaming though,I would go with a tablet, in fact that's what I do. I game on my main pc at home and have a transformer pad from asus with a keyboard for school. i save all my files on skydrive, and investing on microsoft 365 is well worth it.
Msi Ge40. Its flashy, but it has a 760m that can play games and an 8hr battery life for university. Was very close to buying one myself, but ended up picking a desktop/ultrabook combo. If not gaming, then look into the asus zenbooks.
