Laptop with HDMI to USB-C Combo KVM

KVM Model:

2 port usb-c KVM switch (CAHBP-P3122-13)

USB Interface (5-gigabit or 10-gigbit):

5 gigabit

Problem:

I have a laptop with HDMI out as its only option for extending video to a monitor. What adapter would I need to connect this laptop to my KVM mentioned above?

Thank you!

Other Notes:

I’ve tried a direct HDMI to Display port cable which did not work.

which cable did you try? hdmi signals to dp signals is not the same type of cable as dp signals to hdmi signals.

You need an “active” hdmi to DP adapter, then it should work. Usually those are usb powered. Reading carefully it will say if the cable can take HDMI signals (laptop side) and convert them into DP signals (kvm input side). The laptop is a “transmitter” and the monitor is a “receiver” fwiw.

Like Wendell said, a powered and “active” HDMI to DisplayPort adapter:

The cable I tried was a plain old Best Buy HDMI to Display port cable. I’ll purchase the adapter recommended by @Level1_Amber and report back if that doesn’t work. Thank you both for your quick responses!

Just reporting back for others who might run into the same problem. The recommended adapter worked along with a club 3d display port cable. Thanks again @wendell and @Level1_Amber!

Great! Glad it worked!
