Looking for a decent laptop for my mom under $550. She doesn’t game or anything. Just web browsing and pictures. Not sure what’s good now. I see the 6200u/6500u/7200u/7500u. I just don’t want to get her something that’ll crap out in a year.

I'll be honest, an old macbook would be perfect and you can get them stupid cheap. One with a 330M.
And if you're worried about her learning how to use OSX you can put windowsl on it, but I wouldn't be worried. I learned how to use a mac drunk off my ass. Like, I had to relearn half of it the next day but I had done a lot of stuff on it the night before.

Something like this would be way better than any MacBook.
May not be able to find that one but something with a gtx 850m or 860m is right in your price range atm and they perform well.
I have a preference for the business class refreshed laptops. I like them because they are build better than standard consumer grade, and because of the numbers that are sold you can pick up parts rather inexpensively if anything might break.
This one is an expample Note dell always has coupons NEWYEAR45 will knock off 45% and bring down the price to $439.45 plus tax. That leaves you left with some budget if you want to swap in an SSD or more ram.
