Laptop review/recommendation resources

I agree with that looking like one of the best options out there, just not sure if that’s a price point I want to play in for my use case and the fact that I can’t seem to keep a laptop alive more than a couple years. Except that oldschool windows XP thinkpad t60 I had for college that still works if I ever have the desire to use it. Keyboard nipple, physical mouse buttons, 4:3 aspect, hardware wifi switch, external removable battery and all. Why can’t they still make them like this?

I know right? I tried so hard to get a Thinkpad with good reviews, nice specs but they just got so expensive and just no longer make much sense and they seem not very maintainable.

And Framework it’s still a bit too pricey for me right now.

For me a middle-end laptop checked most boxes.

The industry seem to be moving in a better direction though, so I still have hope of seeing a modern version of old Thinkpad, Gateway, Latitude some day.

The Thinkpad T14 gen 5 has seen the return of Dual Sodimm slots and user replaceable storage. Network card and both charging ports are still soldered though…

I’m starting to think I should vote with my wallet and buy a Framework when my current laptop fails, only brand that doesn’t have at least one big yikes right now.
They’re expensive, and the lack of physical trackpad buttons makes me sad, but they’ve been going 5 years now and are very much out of meme territory.
