Laptop monitor not working, doesn't even show up in devices

Last night my laptop was working perfectly fine, but when I woke up this morning to power it on, there was no display, only a black screen. I hooked it up to an external monitor and found that the laptop screen did not show up in device manager, or the monitor configuration section of windows. I know the screen could possibly just be toast, but I was wondering If anyone had any solutions.

Edit: I guess I should have mentioned the make and model: It's an Asus ROG G75VW.

Actually, it started working. I opened up the LCD panel of the laptop and pressed on what seemed to connect the laptop to the computer. Then I powered it on and it began working. I'm not sure If I fixed it or what, but it works now.
