Hello levellers, A colleague of mine asked if Lancom switches are worth a buy as she was offered by our IT team few choices to pick for like 50 bucks each. The listed models are Lancom GS-2326, Lancom GS-2326+, Lancom GS-2120+. As for the port it looks like they are 24 ports with one or two sfp ports, listed for maximum 25 watts, Gb ports. As per the Lancom website, these seems to be fully managed switches. Do they need license to operate or is it simply plug-in and start using type? Are they still useful or outdated ? The use case is homelabbing and learning of course. Thanks
IIRC Lancom switches work without any licenses.
Their firewalls need licenses to operate, in case you are thinking about picking up one of those.
All of the models are EOL since 2016, which is probably why they are being sold off. Still plenty good for home use.
Thanks, it seems there is an option form cloud management which require license and all others are fine.
For 50 bucks and for home use it seems to be fine even though they’re EOL, as long they’re not externally accessible
