KVM Model:
C8B2E748E2
USB Interface (5-gigabit or 10-gigbit):
10gb type c
Problem:
This morning, this KVM belonging to my sister stopped working. Of course, I’m tech support. It was connected to two devices with two monitors since she bought it. It has worked since then. Not sure exactly how long but probably around a year or longer.
This morning, the front showed green lights for each device but you cannot select a device. No output to the screens and no indicator of the usb working. It doesn’t seem to be switching devices. The lights on the front stay green, even when trying to toggle the device with the physical buttons on the switch and with the keyboard (ctrl ctrl 1-4). She always used the keyboard shortcut in the past and the keyboard was, of course, connected to the HID port. The device indicator light does not turn red for any of the device numbers indicating that it isn’t switching devices. The power indicator remains green along with each of the devices ports that are connected to USB.
Other Notes:
I own a smaller 2 monitor 2 device L1T KVM that is working. I can move that device into her setup and it functions with her cables, except the type c cables since my switch isn’t type c. Moving her switch into my setup and using either her cables or new type c cables results in the same issue. The front panel lights up for each connected device, but it doesn’t let me switch to those devices. No red light to indicate it is outputting a specific device lights up.
I tried connecting the device to a single device and single monitor, with and without USB and with or without any monitors to see if I could at least get USB or display working. The results were the same either way. It wouldn’t seem to even select the input to output anything.
I had her purchase the cables that were recommended on the product page at the time of ordering the device, in the specified length limits to ensure that everything worked, which it has up until now.
I assume the device is dead, but figured I’d try the forums just in case anyone knows of a fix other than a replacement. This is the four device two monitor type-c KVM, it would be sad if it entirely died this fast.
