The newer standards for HDMI and DP include an ability for the single cable to carry more data. I’m sure most of that is focused on 4k or 8k display data but do either of those include mouse & keyboard data also? I’m just hoping for fewer wires and seems like 50% fewer wires if the usb for mouse and keyboard could be excluded. I got the impression that usb 4 may have broader capabilities. I know that usb A and B can work on older systems but for newer systems would a single usb4, HDMI 2.x, DP 1.4 cable be something or is this far fetched?
Some implementations of USB C when used for display can do this.
