Kreator - Hordes of Chaos Review
Overall Score : 9.5/10
-TRACK BY TRACK-
1. Hordes of Chaos (A Necrologue for the Elite) - Starts out rather peaceful and melodic, and then at about a minute in the track kicks you in the face in old school Kreator thrash fasion. The song through-out is very well done, and the solo is amazing as always.
2. Warcurse - Epic galloping intro straight into Kreator thrash once again. One things for certain, Kreator is getting varied this time around, you can tell through this song, Their almost pulling off some war metal here. The Solo is also very very good... Hell I'll just say all the solos are good from now on.
3. Escalation - Starts out very strong, and almost makes you think of 80s thrash metal (Well it's what they are, but you get what I mean, flashbacks.) The song goes like old school thrash from the intro to the end, and the chorus is very catchy. The solo is less thrashy than the previous, and almost progressive sounding blending with the drums perfectly. Start to end strong song.
4. Amok Run - Starts of very slow, and almost sad, and then at 50 seconds in once again you get kicked in the face Kreator style, breaking into thrash guitar and screaming, and later in the song the guitar is just simply amazing, And then the song kicks into full speed half way through, almost like a Children of Bodom song.
5. Destroy What Destroys You - Very crossover-thrash sounding at first glance, the drums makes you think old-school hardcore, and the vocals sound little mellow compared to most Kreator stuff.
6. Radical Resistance - Starts out Thrashy, and stays that way. It's a instant classic thrash song. Also once again getting very very epic with the solo.
7. Absolute Misanthropy - Just by reading the name I haven't heard it yet, I'm assuming this is going to be a stand out track... It's gonna be good just looking at the name. After listening to it, I was right. It's like 50% Death, 50% Thrash, 100% Evil. The lyrics of course, go through hating people. Great writing and guitar work through-out. The solo at first makes me thing of old school southern heavy metal solos, and blends it with thrash. The song makes you think it's going to close Megadeth style, and the it goes into super fast picking and agressive vocals.
8. To the Afterburn - One again Kreator getting varied, it's the epic song of the album, and Kreator does epic right. Not much else to say, just an all around great song. Probably first album video material.
9. Corpses of Liberty - A quick 55 Seconds to sit and listen to some amazing guitar work after all the insane talent you just sat through.
10. Demon Prince - Yet again, For the album closer, Kreator pulls off epic AMAZINGLY for the intro, Just makes you wonder why they were never as popular as Metallica, and then kicks into old school Kreator thrash, with some unique picking times, and in the song, the chorus doesn't vary from the rest of the song, but instead the add a bottom layer of epic guitar under it and make it sound amazing and then about half way through you are greeted with a quick very-well played solo, and then tossed back into the crossover thrash groove. The song solo is not a fast one, but that's a good thing, It's a perfect fit with the rest of the song.
All and all, if you like thrash metal, this album is for you.
