Korean 1440p monitor - X-Star DP2710 - received mine today, take a look!

Alright, so!

After being interested in those 1440p monitors for a little while already I have informed myself a ton about those monitors for the last two weeks, and after Logan's video on the X-Star DP2710, I decided to pull the trigger on it from the same ebay seller as Logan recommended (dream-seller). After waiting for it for 6 business days (South Korea -> Luxembourg) (it was delayed for 1 day because they opened my package when it was imported :[ ) , it finally arrived today.

The Box it came in:

Yes, this is the box it is shipping in, so you're better off hoping the box doesn't take a beating while shipping!

Letter to confirm that they did in fact open up the box to check for pixels? It was on the bottom of the box underneath the display, so atleast they did take the display out, even if it was just to put the letter there lol

The screen O:

It does actually look quite classy if you ask me. The front doesn't feel cheap at all. The material that is of course. The back doesn't *feel* cheap too, but if you hit it with your hand, you can hear that it's cheap. The stand is reaaaally wobbly, but who cares. Unless you're living on a ship of course.

No dead pixels as promised

Backlight bleeding:

Not all that bad :/ I can't actually notice it when using it normally. I'm eventually going to open it up to remove the stand, and probably also going to fix the backlight bleeding on that occasion. Here's a playlist explaining how to dismantel this kind of display and also where to put electric tape to fix backlight bleeding. Here's the link to the video that shows where to put the tape, but go to the first video to start the dismantling process: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCYAp-mVU-Q&list=PLnVkA6ZcoQv5piavGXZDJv3Wj2E4MT_iE

Aaaand my setup for now:

In conclusion: Absolutely no regrets buying this monitor. At 320€ it's a steal.

If you don't mind me asking. May i Inquire from where you ordered this display?

Solid monitor; I'm still going to be getting triple 1080p monitors (2 to go) for a debezzeled vertical (portrait) mount I am building, but I might pick up one of these Korean panels as a secondary.

On ebay from the seller dream-seller (it's the same that Logan bought from in his video) You can find him on ebay by using the the advanced search -> search for members.

Here he is on ebay.com: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Monitors-Projectors-Accs-/162497/m.html?_ipg=&_from=&_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ssn=dream-seller

Personally I have bought from the german ebay though (since I live in Europe) and oddly enough, the X-Star is not listed on ebay.com, but on his ebay.de store it is listed.

Looks good. I was tempted by one of those but I can't decide if I want a new 1080p IPS so I have a pair with matching resolutions or one of these and then my current 1080p display.

What are the dimensions on that monitor? If it turns out I can't fit it on my desk it would make my decision a lot easier.

Very nice!  I have been looking at this monitor for quite a while as well.  I haven't decided whether or not I want to "downgrade" in size from my 42 inch TV.  The resolution and price is tempting though.  Not sure if I'll have enough horsepower to drive one of these monitors at a consistent 60 fps.  I may wait until I get a faster GPU (or two).  :)

I picked one up too. Was originally going to get the Crossfire but did a little more reading and i found that PLS had the slight edge. Just waiting on AMD's 9000 series to drop and mature a little before I can take advantage of >60hrtz.

Dimension are ~38cm x 60cm WITHOUT the stand. The stand adds another ~15cm.

Can you lower your resolution?  Some reviews said that they had problems lowering their resoultion.

No problems going to 1920x1080 on the desktop. I also had GW2 running at 1080p when I first started it after connecting the monitor.

Thanks for the responce. Does the box have a handle on it for carrying to LAN Parties and such?

Once my paycheck comes in i'm ordering one aswell!

The box that it shipped in? Yes it did have a plastic handle.

Thanks. It looks like I might just be able to squeeze one on my desk.

I've seen this background so many times lately. Can i have a link to it? I have it now but it's a low res version.

Here you go: http://wallbase.cc/wallpaper/2403838

It's called Scorched Earth by arcipello on deviant art. I actually also have a print of it hanging on my wall :D

I only see 1418×848 on his deviant art.

I have a 1920x1149 version.

I wonder if there are any larger,...

the link you linked isn't working.

That's odd, for me it's working.

Anyway, I uploaded it to minus here: http://minus.com/lfa0aYf1kq8aD

Just hover over the picture an in the top right corner of the picture you'll see an option to download it in 2836x1696.

Weird, the first link is working now. It was redirecting me to the home before.

Thanks! I love this picture.
