Kind of Weird Home Network Setup

Hey All,

I am at the point in my home project where I need to reach out to the internet for help.
So this is my current setup:

  • AT&T BGW-320 | Connected to Fiber drop delivering internet access to my office through ethernet runs through apartment walls. Running in IP Passthrough mode.

  • Netgear 8-port Unmanaged switch

  • XR1000 Gaming Router

  • Cisco CBS220 Smart Switch

  • Dell PowerEdge R710

*HP Proliant DL360 Gen 7

The issue I’m running into is that my XR1000 router will show internet access, but it’ll be intermittent, and none of my servers can pull an IP from the router’s DHCP server which prevents me from installing PVE.

Is your configuration in the order you have it listed?

Yes, I know not the best, but I’m trying to work with what I’ve got.

what you’ve got isn’t the problem

If all your devices are plugged into the netgear 8 port switch along with the WAN side of the router, that is a problem.
-8 port into the LAN side of the router
-CBS220 directly into the router
-plug your important shit directly into the router

What’s your router’s DNS?
is it 1.0.0.1/1.1.1.1 (TLS DNS/standard DNS from Cloudflare, at least for testing) or your ISP’s?

Netgears have been notorious for overheating the last few generations since their tri-band AC routers

I had to stick a 120mm fan on my lab piece to keep it from thermal resetting

Would not surprise me if this is doin the same

OH!!! Duh I can’t believe I did that! Thanks I knew it was something simple. I’m also at work in between tickets and wanted to get some project work done.
