I was just wondering why everyone seems to love killing floor so much. I've seen a lot of gameplay footage and just think it looks kinda...meh. People keep comparing it to Left4Dead but I don't really see the similarities.
Can someone explain to me what it's about and why it's so good? My friend's suggesting I get it but he hasn't really sold it to me enough.Â
(and is it me or do the enemies look suspiciouly similar to those in 'Clive Barkers Jericho')

its similar to L4d in a sense that its a survival game where you have to help each other well... survive..
It's not a L4D clone if that's what you're getting at, considering this game was around before L4D was even a thought, if anything L4D copied this. Essentially this game is just a fun adrenaline rush shooter, no other way to really put it for you, you saw the footage can't you decide on your own? I mean its only 20 bucks so it's not like you're out a ton if you don't like it.
If you read my post I said I DON'T see the similarity between Killing Floor and Left4Dead.

What I really like about Killing Floor, is that when the odds are totally against you (90 to 1) there is still a chance for victory, even on hard mode with a massive adrenaline rush. In l4d you're pooped on if you lose even 1 team member and the gameplay is totally linear. Also the guns in KF are great. The fire axe is my favorite.

pfft in L4d u dont have to kill any zombies at all to win you just have to make it to the end
but in killing floor you get rewarded by killing the fuck out of everything
its like a rpg in a sense coz you level ur perks and it upgrades ur weapons and shit
ive leveled to commando 4 and i can finally play on hard difficulty and win most of the time
and this is where l4d is different ! l4d has no competitive sense at all like cmon! why do u think i always topfrag first wave??? so i can buy armor/bullpup/ammo all in the first time i see the trader
Killing Floor keeps track of your kills and it kinda gives a competitive sense between the players
( unless you're one of those corner camping door welding noob shits that glitches the door on west london and camps on top of the wall )
L4D has a league, but it's still a casual game.
If Tripwire integrated a versus mode or a competition mode for KF, it'd be pretty fun.
They should make a deathmatch mode in Killing Floor, owning bitches with a flamethrower would be so much fun.
