I've got a HTPC with similar specs to the Kill Your Console PC.
- CPU - AMD A8-3870K @3.0GHz unlocked APU
- Mobo - Asus F1A75-M FM1 Socket
- Ram - G.Skill 4GB DDR3 1333MHz 9-9-9-24
- GPU - AMD HD6550 built-in GPU
- Drive - 320 Seagate Barracuda (Boot) 500GB WD Caviar GBlue (Storage)
I'd like to make a video overviewing the build and benchmarking a few games so that maybe it will help the console mouth-breathers realize PC gaming can be an affordable and rewarding experience. So when a new AAA title comes out I can give an idea of what it would look like on a minimum-spec'd system. I just need some ideas of what to bench. Here's what I plan on doing so far:
- Crysis
- DiRT 3
- Assassin's Creed
- Torchlight
The plan is to bench them at 1080p and 720p; both on max and medium settings. What would you guys like to see specifically? Should I mostly stick to games that are also on console so that there is an even comparison? Should I keep a page with a list of optimized settings for each game I bench, that way players can quickly get the best Quality:Performance ratio? Other plans I have for the system:
- Hybrid Crossfire
- Overclocking
- Media Center software/plug-in reviews
Any suggestions for games or other ideas are welcome.
