Keyboard stops working

After i got the stupid idea to remove each key-cap from my keyboard, put all of them in a bucket and washing them. I put all the keys back, i plug the keyboard into the computer, the keyboard lights up and the computer recognizes the keyboard but when i press any button on the keyboard it does not work. I have membrane keys and from what i can remember the circuit board on it is covered in rubber so i don't think water spilled into it. So what could have happened, and i did try to remove a key cap and press the membrane itself and nothing happens, i tried both USB 3.0 and 2.0 slots and nothing, its like the keyboard magically broke. I know how retarded i am but what happened?

try pulling a key cap back off and pressing the membrane directly.  If this works, the key caps are installed incorrectly.  If it doesn't work, your keyboard is borked

I said i did that, i pressed the membrane directly?
