Keyboard not working on HID ports on "4-Port KM Switch with USB SYNC, Serial Control, & Remote"

KVM Model:

4-Port KM Switch with USB SYNC, Serial Control, & Remote

USB Interface (5-gigabit or 10-gigbit):

5-gigabit

Problem:

My keyboard does not work when it is plugged into the HID Port. However, it does work when plugged into the USB 3.2 port.

This screenshot is the keyboard pluggeed into one of the USB 3.2 ports

Here is the keyboard plugged into the HID port:

What other information can I provide to get this working?

@wendell @Level1_Amber

sounds like the keyboard isn’t in hid mode when it’s in a hid port. the kvm isnt complicated. what kind of keyboard is it? maybe there is a firmware option to make it more his compliant. this is almost never a kvm issue

Some keyboards are not hid compatible, some you have to disable nkey rollover, if it’s a corsair or other gamer keyboard you can try booting it into “bios mode” that will make it HID compliant, or if it’s a wooting I can direct you to that thread. Just let us know what you have.

Bummer I guess it isn’t HID compliant. I assumed since it showed up in the system info as “USB-HID Keyboard” I was fine.

For what it’s worth, It’s a Vortex Race 3 which doesn’t have any particularly fancy functionality but it does have nkey rollover so perhaps that’s the problem. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like there’s a way to change it’s HID compliance mode.

This keyboard is 3rd party compatible, so,

I believe nkey rollover should have a disable option in Vial:

Try this and lmk?

Some of their keyboards support Vial/VIA/QMK but unfortunately not the Race3. I appreciate the effort though.

Oooh, unfortunate. For KVM hotkeys you can use a macroboard in the HID port that has programmable keys.
