Keyboard + Mouse Any comments or suggestions?

Hey there
im currently looking to upgrade to proper gaming keyboard + mouse.

I'm quite pickey with what il choose and i have some rather strict requirements. I want a ten keyless keyboard (the one without the numberpad) prefably with brown or blue keyswitches and <$80. I am currently looking at the CM Quickfire Rapid however i would be interested in looking at any other similar keyboard that dont cost as much.

For the mouse I'm not as strict because i find i can adjust to almost any mouse i use, however, i would like a high quality mouse that is <$60. I'm looking at the death adder for Razer but im not entirely satisfied. I also tend to favor using a claw grip but honestly i dont mind.

Any ideas or things i must know before purchasing any of these would be great, otherwise tell me what you use and what you think of it.

Cheers ;)

I completely agree with the quickfire. Quickfire's are actually rebranded Filco keyboards, one of the highest quality mechanicals out there, so it's honestly a great choice, I love mine. As for the mouse, if you really want lights and hurr durr rice gamer the Death Adder isn't too bad, though my suggestion is the Logitech g400, it has a perfect laser sensor, no angle snapping or movement prediction for the most precise mouse possible. Also ignore DPI, your hand can't move precise enough to utalize DPI over like 2000 or somewhere around there.

In fact i have used to mx518 for quite a while on somebody elses PC. I am generally impressed with the overall feel but i find that because of the huge size it takes a few hours to settle into.

Are the g400 and the mx518 the same mouse anyway? they look almost identical and have the same buttons and everything. I am also really impressed witht the mx518 being able to change dpi on the fly. It just makes things like sniping so much easier.

Are there no other mice though? is there nothing that if higher quality than the g400 or mx518. - btw thanks, it seems i have settled on getting a quickfire brown swich.

Personally I can recommend the Sharkoon Darkglider mouse with the darkglider mousepad.  It's what I use and their great, build quality and features are better (IMO) than the Razer Deathadder I bought my brother (I really liked the Deathadder until I bought the Darkglider for my own gaming build)  Has plenty of buttons  with a clickable scroll wheel with left and right clicks to boot (on the scroll wheel) a dpi changer right behind that with a random button you can program for anything you want plus two buttons on the thumb rest.  All the switches feel solid and are strong enough that you won't press them by accident but easy enough to nail them when you need to.

The cord is braided and seems to be of high quality, it has not become damaged at all.  The laser is invisible so it wont mess up your color scheme however the red led in on the DPI indicator cannot be changed though it is just bright enough to easily read the readout and I personally don't notice it on my otherwise black/blue set up.  You can however change the color of the rear facing led that is behind the Darkglider symbol to basically whatever color you want.

One really nice thing that it has though are  Ceramic mouse feet, it comes with a set already applied and a replacement set in the accesories tin it comes with.  Also has some weights (rather light weights though)  I tried out the included Teflon feet and I just couldn't get over how "draggy" they were compared to the ceramics.  The surface is also rubberized.  I don't know how well the ceramic feet would put up with being dragged along a solid surface and getting scratched  all the time like that so a cloth mouse pad may be a good idea.

~$60 or less depending on if you get it on sale

Some pics of the software:

It appears Newegg doesn't sell the Darkglider mousepad anymore but it is pretty nice and everything is sown together so it's not going to seperate and it hasn't frayed at all besides being used and abused.  $15 seems to be the going price

Ever think about going with Cooler Master's new keyboard with green switches? They're supposed to be more resistant blues.

As for the mouse, I'd probably go with the Razer Ouroboros.

eek gosh what is that thing? that Oiroboros is way too overpriced and off putting on first impressions. And i'm afraid i dont know too much about these 'new' keyboard to be too concerned with them

Whereas that Sharkoon seems to be quite impressive so far, I will definitely be keeping this mouse in consideration when i make my final decision. I haven't always been keen on the deathadder and I'm glad to be able to wipe it out of the picture now. Thanks very much, Im now going to begin comparing and contrasting pros and cons between my selection of mice and make my final decision
