Keep getting powercuts, is ECC Memory and a UPS for me?

So once again my power has seemed to gone out and taken another systems parts with it, (last week was my SSD ARRAY) and now its my 4x32gb memory from my xeon server.

I guess id have to look at getting a UPS. any suggestions, seem some beige apc ones but they look ancient and wouldnt really want to trust them.

I have a rackmount UPS from Cyberpower, and a few smaller units from APC. Haven’t had any problems with either of them.

And yeah man, get yourself a UPS or something before anything else dies!

Get a CyberPower UPS with “Pure Sinewave” output. APC’s consumer line really went downhill after the Schneider Electric buyout and isn’t worth paying extra for the name.

Something else is going on to be actually killing parts. What PSU’s are you using?

Where in the world are you? Power is quite different around the world so that will change the UPS recommendations

I got an Eaton UPS back at the start of 2020 for my home servers. Best technology purchase I have made in long time… Added bonus of getting a few extra minutes of heat after the power grid collapses is also nice

sounds like something else is grabbing your hardware to death. never heard that powerloss can cause such damage.

Using the standard Lenovo p620 PSU for my workstation. And a Corsair RM1000x for my Xeon machine.

And I’m in Canada.

Seems like my breakers keep tripping, and it seems to be taking things with it.

An electrician is on the way today to have a look because we had a storm and ever since some of my lights haven’t worked and the breaker keeps tripping. So something is definitely wrong. And this being a house from late 1800s could be a factor with dirty power or something

In your case I personally would spring for a double conversion UPS

Doesn’t matter what goes in, all that come out is clean power.

Are your receptacles grounded?
