Keep getting an error with GUIMiner

I've just set up a Bitcoin wallet, created an account on BTC Guild, and set up the GUIMiner the way it said on their site and Tankata's guide. I'm trying to mine in BTC Guild (US Stratum). I have a 7970, and have "-v -w 256" under extra flags.

Whever I press "Start mining" I get an error: TypeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute '__getitem__'

Console log:

What's the problem and how do I fix it?

What did you put in the 'username' field?

What it showed under the worker tab. Screenname_number

K, that should be right then. But in the server tab, make sure it is set to 'other' not BtcGuild (US Stratum).

And then in the next box (i think it is address), write 'stratum.btcguild.com'

That might be the problem. The poclbm.py error is usually just from filling in the fields wrong.

Hope that fixes it

-sigh- Still a no go... Host address = stratum.btcguild.com, port = 3333 (like they said on their site). Still the same error. Searching google and Bitcoin forums only turned up that it might be an issue with 7970's and some "solution" on GitHub, which I have no idea how to comprehend. There were a few people on Bitcoin forums with the same exact problem, but nobody provided a clear solution.

what drivers are you using?

13.2

This is the card that I have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125439

Will switching to a different miner help, or is it an actual video card problem?

Try the 12.8 drivers. I know they arre pretty stable and have seen a few problems with the 13.2 and 13.0 drivers with some programs.

And the miner shouldn't matter. But its probably not really a video card problem, just a set up problem.

The miner definitely mattered for me! Tried CGMiner, and it works beautifully! No errors, no BS to deal with! Also, I've updated my drivers to the latest 13.3 beta (I'm not gonna roll back my drivers because of a busted miner) and cleared any and all registry errors with CCleaner, and GUIMiner still doesn't work. Guess I'll stick with CGminer. Though my card is running 4 degrees hotter than when I mine LTC with reaper. Getting around 620 Mh/s, still not sure if that's a good speed or not...

K, that's cool. With a 7970, you chould really be getting 650+. Is it overclocked?

It's factory overclocked, I didn't overclock it further. Core clock = 1100; Memory clock = 1500

Yeah, 620 isnt to bad for that. You really should be getting a little more but whatever, it doent really matter :).

If you want to boost the rate, try lowerin the memry clock a bit and boosting the core clock.

Otherwise im glad its working now :)
