Kaspersky Labs New Operating system, Hmmm

http://eugene.kaspersky.com/2012/10/16/kl-developing-its-own-operating-system-we-confirm-the-rumors-and-end-the-speculation/

So while running around the internet just looking for things security related, mainly secure OS and other searches, i come across this.

Kaspersky - A internet security suite company for those not in the know (Which almost everyone on here does) is rumored to be making their OS focuses on primarily security.

Now i like this idea, i take security seriously on all my devices, but this could be something i may end up looking into if it is true, although i dont use linux as my daily (w8) i love the OS as a whole. Stuff like open source can really attract people and with windows security getting worse (I believe due to the kernel been old as hell) i look for most secure OS regually just to keep up to date, and well this could really be something.

So yeah im not sure if this has already been posted on here before if so i appologize for the repeat but you pro security nerds will probs like to have a sniff around this - If it is more than a rumor that is....

Anyways people have a look at the link at the top of the post for a more indepth story!

Laters!!!

This is actually a very interesting read.  Good find!

If you are interested in security and secure OS', there are definately some great Linux distros out there but they're certainly not the information control systems in the article above.  Also Windows can be hardened, secured, encrypted in various ways as well, Microsoft does take security seriously (not always succesfully).

It depends if you're more interested in defensive security for your own protection, or whitehat style (I hope?) hacking/penetration testing/whatever.  If it's just everyday use I highly recommend search the top Linux distros for finding out their security measures out of the box: Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, openSuse, Red Hat.

For more in depth security pursuits, I've have great success with BackTrack Linux (now called Kali) for penetration testing, as it comes standard with some nice tools.

Windows is a different beast, and being a more closed system might take more effort.  Though if you know what you're doing, or aren't afraid to break stuff/get knee deep in code, then you can make it sing and dance to your tune.

@Cahoots - I plan to learn security for exploitation as a white hat, all within Ethical reasoning of course. Im studying for mainly Windows Exploitation, also firewall and wireless exploits, again for white hat, although i expect to learn how to better protect my network in the process :)

I do know MS takes security serious, but it is still awful without our help, again maybe kernel related? when i finally get a netbook (something cheap for linux) im going with Debian so i stay in the backtrack theme so to speak learn terminal also, always good :)

And yeah ino i hate learning coding, hated it in college but it has to be done, going to start with python and machine code and make my way around :)

But thanks for the links! sure if some new people see it they will check them out also :)
