From the angel of an aussie point of view and person that recommends parts with all the hype it just seems like Skylake REFRESH
As a person with DAW audio gear it seemed some of the Z97 mobos supported thunderbolt and that dispeared with skylake , havent seen any mention of that coming back with kaby lake
We used to buy z97 asrock pro 4 mobos for AUD$125 before skylake came out then it was AUD$185 for the base asrock Z170 mobo and now its the same all over again it was only in the last 3-4 weeks that z170 FINALLY came DOWN to AUD$135 now all the kaby lake stuff is 200+ again
Duel Core Pentium has hyperthreading now* i3 has hyperthreading and K model
Can OC i3/i5/i7 without bios download*
Motherboards cost MORE then skylake or maybe its just a base price rip off again in australia just like how the skylake stuff started out
AMD have the chance to QUICKLY bring out zen to pickup the price point market for Pentium duel coreand i3 killers in Australia, espically if they are overclockable on cheaper zen mobos
In Australia i5-7600K is AUD$350, in the States it's $250. The exchange rate is AUD$1.00 to USD$0.73 Math it out and you get AUD$350 = USD$255 and change.
Motherboards are a different story, about USD$20-$50 more in Australia for the most part. You're getting fucked over on some boards though, like the ASUS TUF Mark 2 is equivalent to USD$111 cheaper in the States.
Yeah, cpu pricing isn't that bad, graphics cards are pretty silly though.
G1 gaming 1080 is currently $979 vs $849 converted over to AUD.
I remember when I got my 980tis, they were $1100-1200 in australian stores, bought the same ones off newegg US for $850. Unfortunately, their prices seem to have gone up, they must have realised how much our shops make off us, so pushed up their prices to match.
Half the problem is pretty much all Aussie retailers choose to take the easy route of going through the only odd 1 or 2 wholesalers in the country, instead of buying direct from manufacture.
This can be seen with PCCG and the RX series cards, where the uber cheap price of the XFX cards is a result of them buying direct.
