Kaby Lake: i7-7700k, i5-7600k, i3-7350k and Z270 Everything You Need To Know | Level One Techs

From Linux user perspective with passtrhrough experience, it would be nice if reviews of this "new" (sigh) platfrom included information about:

  • iommu groups and their isolation in conjunction with lscpi output, it is nice to have bare lspci output on youtube film but it does not tell the whole story
  • does Z270 pch provide isolation like Z170 kind of unofficially does
  • can lm_sensors read voltage and fan speeds, I still cannot figure out how to read this data on my asus Z170 pro gaming

You have quite unique opportunity to provide this sort of scarce piece of information so if You can, please do so.

The sad part is how artificial the planned obsolescence is compared to way back, at least we had large jumps in performance every 2 years before to where a replacement once every 5 years is easily justified, but even the past 6 years put together for CPUs has been a much smaller jump.

The really sad thing? I'm not even joking that waxing that guy's mustache pretty much sums up the speed difference of kaby lake over skylake.

Broadwell 3.0 + USB 3.1rII

It almost sounds like they binned all the top performing skylake cpus and saved them for release as a "new" generation.

Honestly, though, no sense in complaining about just having more options. It's about time AMD showed up to at least stimulate some real innovation.

I need Gordon Moore to die so I can respond to this post with a picture of his grave. Brb.
