To be honst I would probably go for two 290x's for 4k instead of 780 Ti. But yeah there's absolutely no reason to buy a Titan-z unless you need the compute performance of two titan blacks and need a small form factor PC.
well yeah...the titan cards are not gaming cards. Nvidia labels them 'Geforce' because their marketing team is full of evil bastards. I really wish they would stop calling it a GTX Titan...but they get too much attention and money from it to stop now. I consider Titans some kind of stitched together GTX card with a Quadro, that is capable of both tasks, but worse than either card at their dedicated task.
Performance-wise I thought the original Titan and GTX 780 were basically identical for gaming, and the 780 Ti and Titan Black also basically identical for gaming?
from nearly every benchmark I have seen the Titan has always lagged a bit behind...although I also consider price to performance in these benchmarks, and a $1000 card getting the same framerate as a $500 card is not equal performance in my opinion. I consider this complete garbage.
From a price/performance standpoint in gaming Titans are of course awful. But I just assumed that they were the same for gaming, which is apparently incorrect.
