My PC has the following specs:
AMD 9950x 105w eco mode and -30 all core offset
Teamgroup ddr5 @8000
Nvidia rtx 3060ti
Micron 9550 pro 3.84tb connected with a cable from amazon
" PCIe 5.0 M.2 to U.2 Adapter, M.2 to SFF-8639 U.2 NVMe SSD Cable with 15Pin Power, Left Exit, 1.6ft (50cm)" by LetLinkSo
(No links allowed apparently)
I was curious if my scores in crystaldiskmark were normal. They seem a little low. If so, is this SSD a little too much for my 9950x? Could it be related to my cable? My IOPS seem to be 1/10 of the rated 4Kib in the 9550 datasheet.
(can’t post links so I’ll write it out)
Using the 1GiB preset:
I get 223,600 random 4k read q32t1
195,102 random 4k write q32t1
whereas the data sheet says I should have
3,000,000 and 300,000
These numbers don’t look implausible. Considering file system and IO overheads this is on the low end but not terrible.
I would turn on PCIe AER and check if there are any errors being reported. Using adapters at Gen 5 speeds might cause some.
I wrote a script to test drives on Linux with as little overhead as possible to test my ZFS Server. If it’s something you want to try check it out here:
