Just curious because it seems a little high. I do have an aftermarket heatsink installed. The Gelid Tranquillo rev 2
Just built a pc with the A10-5800K, Idles around 38-40 degrees Celsius. Are these normal for an APU?
What are you room temps? 38-40c is definitely high if your ambient temp is lets say 22c, did you apply the thermal compound properly? Did you tighten down the aftermarket heatsink properly?
38-40 is probably ok for idle. run prime95 for a few hours and see what the peak is
Using the stock cooler that came with the APU I never get above 35c even in games
I think my room is around 25-26. I dont know though because in 3 different programs i have gotten different numbers. Ive gotten a sub zero number, 39 degrees and then 27 degrees. I think i may take off my cpu cooler and reapply my thermal paste, maybe that will help. And i tightened them down until it was hard for me to turn the heatsink screws
Download HWmonitor, it is free and it will tell you your core temp as well as your socket temps, post back the a screen shot of the temps please before you remove your heatsink and re-apply the thermal compound.
Im currently away from my desktop and wont be get to it for about an hour and a bit but when i do i will post right away.
I've found that hardware monitor's temps seem to be higher than real temp and core temp, just fyi.
Here you go, maybe my fans are just not at a high enough rpm? Sorry about the pic im new to the site
Good lord 40c idle, something is funky. Can you go into BIOS and take a look at what the temp is there?
it says 41
Sounds good in the BIOS, your PCU is running at full clocks in BIOS so your temps look right for that. Maybe it is just a temp monitor software issue for 3rd party programs. What temp programs have you tried other then HWmonitor?
EDIT: You see your gpu temps in HWmonitor? They look more realistic then the others, since it is a APU maybe that is your CPU temp, just a theory with that one.
Can you leave easy tune on and HW on and run a game real fast? Something demanding, just so i can see what the load temps are.
With the stock cooler I get up to 91c and idle at 40c
Teebler just posted 40c/91c under load, i think you are just fine. You can re-apply the thermal compound if you want just to make sure you did it right. Honestly, the temps are all over the place, but the bios shows a decent temp and so does your GPU temps. My opinion, you are fine and go get your gaming on!
Jesus. Ok well thanks alot for all the help. Ive been gaming on it for the past week and the longest i played was like saints row 3 for about 3 hours so I guess im pretty safe.
DId you notice any large FPS drop during your gaming sessions? If not then i say you are clear sir, how is Saints Row 3?
The only drop i get is when like some big explosion happens and thats only in metro. As for saints row 3, if you go into the game expecting a serious game, your mistaken. Its just a great game to mess around in and to have fun. Id recommend it if youre looking for pure fun and chaos
