Just built a NAS on openmediavault, not sure how to connect to it on Manjaro

Hi, as the title says I have just finished setting up the NAS but I am confused about how I am suppose to connect so I can begin putting files and backups on there. Any advice on how this is suppose to be achieved?

I have already read a lot about the use of SAMBA but that confuses me too.

Thanks a lot guys

Personally, I would rather recommend avoiding “guest” access and only use it per user. In addition, access only from specific IPs.

Or use NFS …

You are need to have a couple things setup on OMV, you might have them already.

  1. A user added on OMV(see user tab)
  2. A shared folder created on OMV(shared folders tab)
  3. ACL and permissions added for the user to the shared folder.(Shared folders tab then permissions and ACL buttons)
  4. The SMB/CIFS service enabled(SMB/CIFS tab)
  5. The shared folder added as a SMB/CIFS share.(SMB/CIFS tab then shares tab)

Then you can connect to OMV from another system.

The details on how to connect to it depends on what you are using on the manjaro system. The mount command would always work, or you could use the GNOME files manager, or there are lots of other utilities to mount network shares, but those two are common to use.
