Julian Assange may be handed over to UK and US

Yeah I’m confused by this as well.
Are there truly still people who believe that the public/private security state that was created with 9/11 as its excuse – which knows more of what we do than the Stasi did in its heyday – exists for them, and that things such as the (vastly overblown) “security risk” associated with “outing” its employees should matter to them, because my countrymen?

I am glad we have the spy agencies, and genuinely believe they have a very important role.
I am astounded at the over reaching powers they illegally presumed, which were brought to light, and then promptly legitimised (at least in the UK)

We need spies in foreign governments, and companies. We need intelligence officers to handle them.
We need cyber defences, and some ability to investigate and attack systems.

But we shouldn’t have indiscriminate wiretapping and eavesdropping.
We shouldn’t have warrant less searches at borders.

Our agencies have gone too far, but I personally think Snowdon’s methods were the right way to go about it, having seen the failure of the system to respond to the agents who followed the correct whistle blowing methods,
