JFK RELOADED. This is an abandonware game from 2004 where you kill JFK......again?

“It is despicable,” said David Smith, a spokesman for Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy, the late president’s brother. He was informed of the game on Friday but declined further comment."

I absolutely love history, don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing more cool then exploring history through playing video games. Some developers put in so much work to make sure it is historically accurate and that’s a wonderful approach, making it engaging and insightful is all one can ask for.

When I learned in 2012 on Skype from my friend Jordan that a game existed where I can blow JFKs brains out from the Texas School Book Depository with a sniper rifle, I immediately thought how ridiculous this is. It immediately gauged my interest to play it.

One thing to highlight a war where thousands or millions have perished. Conflict and complexity, so many different aspects to focus on and grab your attention. The ideas are endless on how you can represent this in video games.

Yes, it was a huge moment in history when JFK died. Based upon what I know he was very much looked up to and coveted by people for his accomplishments and leadership. I personally don’t think there is enough substance in the topic to create a game that provides value let alone entertainment by blowing his brains out again on a computer screen.

Sure maybe in the bigger picture this aspect could be incorporated into a game touching down on the historical highlights of the 1960’s. That would be cool.

There’s really nothing cool or entertaining about a video game where the only objective is to kill the president. Then to replay it again and again through the replay functionality. You can change cameras, rewind etc. What is insightful or entertaining about this?

“OH WOW! HIS HEAD IS NOW AN EXPLODED WATERMELON LET ME SEE IT AGAIN AT A DIFFERENT ANGLE!”.

Would you like to have a black van show up to your house to sit at your neighbors house? Say “kill the president” 5 times in your living room in front of your Amazon Alexa. I’ve overheard stories of the secret service tracking these people down and that’s another topic to investigate one of these days. So fascinating. I guess they really really don’t like it when people get out of hand.

The topic of killing the president is taboo, the idea of killing a president in a video game is especially taboo, combine both of it and you have a piece of software that I think will live on in infamy.

Here are some glorious screenshots from the way back machine. Feast your eyes on this hilarious PR disaster.

“Gary! How did you pay for a car in cash??? I thought you said you were having issues with money??”

“I BLEW JFKS BRAINS OUT ON MY HOME COMPUTER AND I GUESS MY SHOT WAS SO CLOSE TO LEE HARVEY OSWALDS THAT THEY GAVE ME 100,000 DOLLARS JOHN.”

“What?”

Here is some gameplay. Let’s hope I win that 100 grand. My 15 dollar an hour job isn’t cutting it anymore. I will go to the Versace store with my pile of money in a duffel bag. Dammit, anyone have a Time Machine? I guess I missed my SHOT by 6,540 days :frowning:

How many times do you want to watch yourself shoot the president? Well lets hope its enough to justify the 9.99 you spent on the game.

I can’t share my awful YouTube video because no links are allowed, which is fine! where am I going to put my Vietnamese spyware? How am I supposed to make my botnet?

Let’s do it the old school way if you search YouTube for these terms, you’ll find me. Whether you’d regret finding me or not on YouTube is a complete gamble.

“jfk reloaded revisited (2004) I dont think i need a username”

search that, that’s the article in very sloppy video form haha.

It’s a really horrible game, what an idea to do that!

So it is a 20 year old version, of a single level, similar to sniper elite, but with aged (now) graphics, and none of the stuff except the killshot?

I guess the controversy of the murder victims family still being very much alive at the time, changes the perspective?
