Ivy Bridge vs. Sandy Bridge?

There is so much hype about ivy bridge CPU's versus sandy bridge and was just wondering advantages for either in terms of gaming, overclockability, and some minor rendering and recording. Also, i5 or i7??

Any feedback is appreciated!!

i5 for gaming

i7 for rendering

I heard that they ran hot, and are less overclockable. Is that true or false??

true, but not significantly

OK so you're saying that I should get the i5-3570k over the i5-2500k for gaming?

They both OC well. You might be able to push the 2500k a little more, but the 3570k is fast too... It's usually 3-5 fps faster in games.

Stock 3570K is better than a stock 2500K, but it's very minimal. As for overclockability, Ivy Bridge runs hotter, so at higher clocks, Sandy Bridge would be better.
