Hey guys, hope you all have been well these last few months!
Alright, lets cut to the chase. I now have a job that I just started not too long ago and I now want to save for my new PC that I have been wanting. PCPartPicker has been somewhat of an addiction, putting together multiple build just for the hell of it. Anyway, I have now come down to 2 builds but I am not entirely sure of which to focus on. These are those builds:
The only differences between them are the motherboards and the keyboards. I am not sure about whether I want a better mobo or a better keyboard. What do you guys think? Input of almost any kind is welcome!
MSI am3+ motherboards are the worst available. Stepping up to that asrock or this asus is a lot better choice: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-m5a97r20 its really worth having the reliable mobo over a slightly better keyboard. That Msi board is always being reported with problems. Anything MSI on AM3+ is a bad choice.
Following your build, I cut the pricing down on the case and PSU a bit (not rendering quality of course), in order to make room for a CPU upgrade with a motherboard upgrade. You will have to opt for the cheaper peripherals, but that's something you can always upgrade later. Upgrading your motherboard or CPU will be something that'll be harder to do in the future. You dont have to follow my list, it's just a suggestion to what I would have done.
Okay okay, it looks like I need to clear up a few things. This is meant to replace my old laptop as a gaming/general use computer. I chose the MSi board because of the great combo deal and the numerous reviews that I went through. Many of them gave positive feedback about it. Also, I hate mail-in rebates. I apperciate the help wuwica but it's not really to my liking. I chose all of these with the intention of staying below $950. I look to keep the base total low, cut it down with any good combos, and then calculate in tax.
I'm always open to criticism, no problem. It's hard to really know what you are looking for, so i was just throwing that build out there.
I dont know if this will be useful, but just a FYI that if you live near a micro center you can pick up a really sweet CPU + mobo deal.
probably in your best interest to check them out. As they average in like 50 $ in savings compared to any other retailer. But these are instore deals only.
I wouldn't recommend putting an 8320 into that motherboard (Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P ATX AM3+/AM3 Motherboard). It has a weak 4+1 power phase design, and isn't much better than the MSI board.
If you want to go with an 8 core CPU, I would recommend the Asus M5A99X Evo R2.0 or Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 with it's digital 6+2 power delivery system.
I know what you mean. Hopefully I didn't come off as being a bit harsh but it looked like clarification was needed. I actually live 30min driving distance from a MC and thanks for reminding me about that. I suppose another reason I chose the MSI 970A-G46 was because Logan actually recommend and used it in a build. I think I may go with the ASRock Motherboard because it's just ever so slightly cheaper and I hope I can do all of the good stuff once I figure things out.
