more recent (past few years) films that i've liked that you may not have seen:

  • Prisoners (tense)

  • Roger Dodger (boy meets a few women)
  • Snowpiercer (better than hunger games)
  • Seven Psychopaths (comedy, farce, psychopaths)
  • Catch me if you can (just brilliant)

I'm assuming you're old enough to see these.

Trying to think of a few gems that people overlook:

  • Leon
  • The intouchables
  • Oldboy
  • On the waterfront (probably brando's best performance)

Other than that just make your way through imdb's top 250

leon the professional

hard boiled

training day

clerks

boondocks saints

requiem for a dream

Not just Oldboy, but the whole of The Vengeance Trilogy

  • Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002)
  • Oldboy (2003)
  • Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (2005)

also

  • [Rec] (2007) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1038988/
  • Pontypool (2008) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1226681/

Are the other two in the vengeance series worth watching?

If you haven't seen Officespace, watch that.  You'll have a laugh to yourself whenever Wendell references it.  =)
