IT-Mode Flashed LSI Card reduces RAM [Solved]

Hello,

i encountered something weird today and i cannot find a reason for it

I have a NAS with Freenas on it.
Mainboard: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/de/de/ark/products/60637/intel-server-board-s1200kp.html

CPU: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/de/de/ark/products/53401/intel-xeon-processor-e3-1220l-3m-cache-2-20-ghz.html

but i also tested it with: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/53480/intel-pentium-processor-g620-3m-cache-2-60-ghz.html

and 2x4GB Sticks of Kingston ECC Ram.

Also i added recently a flashed LSI card i bought on ebay from china, so i can add more HDDs.
This one:

My knowledge about these cards is every slim, so sorry if that is not enough information for the card. But that is all i know. I wanted to save a little money and not go for a Dell H310,

I realized today, that when the LSI card is in the PCIe Slot, only 4GB of RAM show up in the system. All RAM sticks are working i checked every configuration. It really seems to be the pci-card.
When the card is not in, it’s the full 8GB.

Any ideas why that is any one?
And maybe if this is somehow solvable?

Thank you in advance for your interest and help!

Edit/Addition1:
I tried an Dell H310 i also have and there the 8GB Ram show up.
So it has to be the LSI card.
But no idea how a “defect” card could influences RAM

Edit/Addition2:
NAS only seems to boot when the SAS adapter is in the left slot, but not the right one.

That is really odd.

I’m running like 3 cards with the same confguration, but haven’t run into that problem.

Tried different pcie slots?

Tried ram in different socket?

Unfortunately the board only has one pcie slot.
And also only 2 ram slots. So everything is fully equipped.
I also have a Dell H310 flashed to IT-Mode lying around and will test tomorrow, if it causes the same thing.

EDIT:
Tried the Dell H310, and there the 8GB RAM show up
So it has to be something with the other pcie card.

Have you tried taping the pcie pins like this:

(Don’t bother flashing, just linking the relevant mod on its own was hard need to covers pins 5 and 6).

I just googled ram disappearing with lsi raid cards and it was like the fourth result which was the first result with a similar description to your issue. No magic knowledge unfortunately.

Glad you sorted your problem out.

Additionally, this also fixes the booting problem with the second SAS-adapter port!
If anyone should ever find this in need of help
