So i recently tried putting everything together on my new build, And i threw a GT 620 Graphics card in from my friend so i could get my rig up quicker than having to wait another 4 months to actually have a running rig, And when i went to the BIOS, The resolution was so large, It cut everything off so i could not see everything, But that's not all, Whenever i moved my mouse, Wherever it was, It would revile a pixel the size of the mouse so i could see the BIOS screen, So i literally had to move my mouse around to color everything in. Not only that, But if i do not go to the BIOS, and let it go to the Desktop, Maybe a minute or two later, My monitor would turn off, So i have no time to reinstall Windows 8.
Can anyone help me with these issues? I have a chance of getting my rig up and running !
well i personaly think its more something with the gpu then the motherboard. but offcourse i can be wrong.
To me it sounds like the GPU.
The mouse colouring issue you describe is (form my experience at least having had the same issue two or three times) a UEFI glitch of some I kind. I had the exact same issue until I had updated the BIOS. As for the other issues, it sounds kind of like your friend gave you a dying GPU. If you have a spare GPU lying around, throw it in and see if it functions properly.
Sounds to what everyone is saying, I was also correct about it most likely being the GPU. If anyone can give more input ( if needed ) that would be awesome, And yes my friends GPU is pretty old and it's Zotac lol Enough said.
And sadly i do not have a spare GPU lyeing around except my Nvidia GTX 460, But i cleaned it up and took the thermal paste out from the GPU and i stripped two of the screws when i was trying ot take it back apart to put more thermal paste inside but i was not able to.... i was going to use it :/
Use a rubber band on the stripped screws. that will get them out. Then try to put new screws in place if you can. Try resetting the bios/uefi if you can. Might solve the problem. Try a different monitor or cable if you have a spare. Might be the GPU as well.
How exactly do i use a rubber band with the screws??? Im really confused on how to go about this method.
The M5A99FX R2.0 supports a great feature in USB Bios Flashback. In the event that the UEFI is impacting the compatibility or display out of the card you can update the UEFI even if the board fails to post. Just follow the steps outlined in the manual. Once you update the UEFI the board should have full support for not only legacy GPUs which run a legacy VBIOS but newer GPUs which support GOP based VBIOS. These type of card provide benefits like fully support FASTBOOT and SecureBoot offering much quicker post and boot times.
Hope this helps.
just use pliers on the head of the screw. they're not that tight
i've had no problems with my 7970 and that board. even with bios update... it's gotta be your card
The rubber band will contour the stripped screw head for better grip.
