Hi everyone, I recently wanted to record some content for a class I’m teaching at work about proxmox, terraform, and kubernetes. I had all the normal issues I expected ie: syntax errors, scripts breaking, zfs_pools not being imported… and so on lol. Then came the easy part just do a screen record with OBS and then boom pow content. Well I did a test recording and had black flickering on my recording. Hardware/software and settings are as follows:
5900x
6800x
monitor is a dl3418dw 3440x1440 at 120fps
pop_os 22.04
obs 27.2.3 I also tried the flatpak
Obs is using FFMPEG VAAPI
bitrate 6000
24 fps gave me the least amount of flicker
Not sure if this is enough information or not. I’ve searched for a couple of hours now and haven’t found anything that has fixed the issue so far.
The XSHM full screen capture is notorious for this. Best thing to do is instead use SimpleScreenRecorder.

like @FurryJackman I also use simple screenrecorder
but for OBS, maybe reducing the computers framerate of the display might help? not sure, I don’t have such a fancy screen as yourself
@FurryJackman Thanks for the response I will try it out. I’m a noob when it comes to this, but is there a way to use simple screen recorder as a source in obs?
@Trooper_ish I thought this might be the issue too however no dice. I even spun up my windows 10 vm with my nvidia graphics card and it worked perfectly. Unfortunately all of my work is done on my host machine, lol.

Had the same issues with simple screen recorder when I tried to record just one screen, however when I recorded both screens everything worked fine. Not really optimal but a step in the right direction I suppose.
