Artifacts on PC1 when above 5120x1440 60hz, displays all options.
Black screen on PC 2 when above 5120x1440 60hz, only shows up to 120hz not 144 as options.
USB device hitches on PC2, ie mouse skips movement momentarily or the keyboard will multi press.
Other Notes:
PC 1 is a rack mounted a la LTT Ryzen system with a GTX 3090 to a 50ft Phantom Cable Fiber Optic DisplayPort Cable. Works fine direct to monitor. USB from the KVM goes into an Icron Raven dock, may try a second one I have with my TV to offload some of the bandwidth. I think with audio and a stream deck plus a Logitech Brio and my peripherals may be too much, however doesn’t explain issues with PC2.
PC 2 is an HP Spectre connected to a Razer Core Chroma with a GTX 1080 through a 3 meter geoHNG fiber optic cable. USB from KVM goes into the Core.
Display cable from KVM to Odyssey G9 49” is a geoHNG 3 meter cable.
USB devices into the KVM are a Razer Mamba Hyperflux and a Razer Huntsman Elite V3. I’m still working through troubleshooting though, as Razer Synapse is absolute garbage and fails to install drivers when hooked into the KVM. I may try a clean install with the peripherals not in the KVM but idk. I tried direct in KVM as well as a powered anker hub with no change in behavior. Even with no Synapse drivers the hitching is present, the Synapse drivers actually lock up the peripherals. These driver issues occur on both PCs although PC2 saw more of the peripherals in Synapse, while PC1 was missing some.
What USB ports are these in? Power cycle the KVM (unplug everything & let it sit for several minutes, plug everything back in with the KVM power being last) See if it reoccurs in the blue USB ports.
I believe this was it. I can’t find my receipt for the two I bought and ran, one goes to my display the other to my valve index. Neither have given me any issues when directly connected, in fact the index uses a female to female. But with the issues on the geoHNG on PC2 I’m worried they might be the problem.
Huntsman in the HID to use macros, blue for the mouse for polling had these issues. Then switched to all of them in the anker hub into usb 3.0 and still issues. Let it sit for half a minute, can let it sit off for a bit longer.
USB issues seem to be resolved! Long story short, charging wasn’t working on my metal desk with mamba hyperflux so I plugged both the mouse and the mousepad in so I could use RGB and direct to the computer it seemed to be fine. However, I believe any inherent disconnects to going through a KVM to an Icron dock to my PC it was enough to make the mouse try and connect to both the mouse wired AND wirelessly through the mousepad which was causing all of my lockups. Wasn’t readily apparent as it’s such a niche thing. Now all that’s left is figuring out the DisplayPort issues!
Hmmm I’ve never used the brand of cables you linked… Do you have any other cables to try? Can you connect a test PC to the troublesome input with a short copper DisplayPort cable and see if it persists?
@Level1_Amber I think it’s time to just ditch Razer and cut my sunken cost fallacy. How would you recommend I post to ask fellow users what peripherals they would recommend that still has some RGB etc to fit my aesthetic?
Are the peripherals not working? You could always keep them in that powered hub that works, and buy a hotkey macroboard to use in the hid port for hotkeys. Like this:
^ In the description it specifies this macroboard is HID compliant and driverless
“USB interface, HID standard keyboard, plug and play without driver”
They’re also acting up in the hub, and synapse software is barely functional at the best of times. Half the time it affects system performance. I put a quickfire tk and an old legacy death adder I have into the KVM and they have zero issues. I also determined that the optical cables were junk and that half of my DP cables are junk too. So I ordered fibbr for those.
