Issue with TrueNAS and proxmox

Im having issues with TrueNAS…

Currently have truenas on as a VM and about every 3 days it crashes and needs to be stopped, shutdown and restarted to get it up and running again. In the log of proxmox it shows a backup error. This is a snip of when errors start occurring.

zstd: error 25 : Write error : No space left on device (cannot write compressed block)
ERROR: VM 200 qmp command ‘query-backup’ failed - got timeout
INFO: aborting backup job
ERROR: VM 200 qmp command ‘backup-cancel’ failed - unable to connect to VM 200 qmp socket - timeout after 5989 retries
ERROR: Backup of VM 200 failed - VM 200 qmp command ‘query-backup’ failed - got timeout

There is no mission critical data, its just some movies, TV shows and a few iso’s that i have copies of. BUT my family does like watching at night and so far they have have choosen to not bother me when the server goes down and i only figure it out days later when i am trying to use it. Any idea as to what i can do to keep the service up and running?

Welcome!

Proxmox is trying to make a compressed copy of your VM 200 and failing with lack of space before moving on to the next one.

What are your expectations around backups? … What’s your setup like?

Hey risk

Do you think the failure of a backup would cause the vm to stopworking?

So I don’t care about back up at this time. All the data on the server is duplicate already. I have a snapshots of each machine incase they get borked. The goal was get rid of dvd/blu ray players.

All the videos and documents are on my main rig. The setup is a quasi test lab. I have a few Ubuntu machines, window server and truenas. Plex is running inside of truenas.

Server setup is e5 2680, 32 gig of r-ecc, 120 gig ssd for proxmox, 250 gig ssd for hosts, four 4 tb drives in z2 for bulk storage.

Not 100% sure, would have to check the code. But yes.

Removed truenas from the scheduled back up and everything has been running fine. No Issues. No down time so far.
