ISP Searching :(

Hello! First let me apologize if this is in the wrong sub-forum.

I've been looking for a better ISP for years now. I've basically just been googling for 'find ISP', and it usually shows up with things like Hughes Net, Sprint, or other ISPs like that. Is there a better way to search?

I'm currently using "Pixius" and I live near a small town called Benton, in Kansas (USA).

I'm just tired of paying $70 for 2mbps down, which is shared between 3 PCs in my household. If one person watches a 480p youtube video, and the other does almost anything else, then the 3rd computer is basically a potato. It's just not enough bandwidth for a family.

I almost forgot to mention, services with download caps aren't really viable, as we sometimes use 30+gb per month. (Lots of new games coming out, and that'll just be even more downloading.)

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Try Cox and Time Warner to see if they are in your area

No they're not, no big name company is. Other than things like the wireless services from Verizon and such. My current ISP (Pixius) is a WISP.

i blame these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cable_television_franchise_fee

basically, it's legalized monoplies

there might not be any, if you live in the middle of nowhere

That's what I'm afraid of.

If you literally go a block in either direction, there are two high speed ISPs. I just happen to be in a dead zone. I was hoping there was some magical search engine or somebody with crazy knowledge that'd be able to help me out, that doesn't seem to be the case though.

Nice avatar btw :)
