Hi everyone!! Im going to buy my pc, the only problem is im on a budget I can save but I want to play now so im starting from scratch then upgrade eventually. Problem is, is the Intel G2010-G2030 enough as a starter CPU, Can I play games with it? Ill be upgrading as soon as possible to 3570...
As a starter CPU, I would look no further than the 750k on the FM2 platform. You can pair it with anything up to a 7870 and 660ti, and those GPUs will play a good number of games on ultra at 1080p. You really don't need a high-end CPU to enjoy games - only if you want an enthusiast quality gaming experience.
no one replied yet when I made this post, you can look. Im from Philippines so the parts are very limited and pricey so the place where Im buying where prices are okay the CPU you suggested is not available. you can check if you want to http://pcx.com.ph/components/processor/amd.html?dir=asc&order=price. thanks
The best options I see it judging by the prices on that site you linked are:
- buy an A8-5600K (best price:performance computer from what I can tell on the site, comparable roughly to an i3 4130) and an FM2+ motherboard (at least here in north america, FM2+ motherboards are pretty cheap and will allow you to upgrade to a Steamroller Athlon if you want later on)
If the FM2+ motherboard is too expensive (because FM2+ is relatively new, it might be expensive or not in stock where you live), then the pentium and a later upgrade to an i5 is probably your best option. FM2 socket motherboards are usually really inexpensive (here you can find a good FM2 motherboard for $55 which is a steal) but the problem is if it's FM2 and not FM2+, you really have no upgrade path. So if the FM2+ motherboard and A8-5600K is out of budget, then your proposal seems to be the best option.
Though it probably wouldn't be an ideal gaming experience, it wouldn't be too terrible depending on the games you want to play. For single player games it's honestly enough to play them but it wouldn't be great if you plan to play multiplayer games like Battlefield. I have a Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz from 2007 and the Pentium G2020 is almost identical performance to it (even though it has only 2 cores, since each core is almost twice as fast as mine) and it struggles greatly in Battlefield, but does just fine in single player games.
I would suggest saving a bit longer for the i5 since it will be miles better, but if you really can't wait or if it will take a long time to save for it (I don't know how the economy is like over there) then the Pentium isn't a terrible option.
What graphic card are you going to use?
edit:
Yeah looked at the motherboard prices... the Intel is def your best bet here.
Im looking at GTX650Ti or 660Ti. cheaper than their AMD counterpart... If I'm lucky with money i really want the GTX770, hahahahha.. I have Nvidia 8800GT(ithink) maybe Ill use it before upgrading cause I really dont play mulitiplayer, I suck in multis.
I plan on upgrading and leaving the old parts to my younger brother, I dont know!! Its really hard to make a decision!!
Thanks for feedback and suggestion! Highly appreciate it!
I wouldn't take anything outside of the reviews on Tom's Hardware remotely seriously. According to their CPU hierarchy upgrading my current CPU - a Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz from 2007 - to an FX 6300 would be a waste of money, even though it'd be more than twice as fast.
The HD 7850 is quite a bit better than the GTX 650 Ti, it has nearly double the memory bandwidth and quite a bit better draw rate.
GTX 660 Ti > 7870 > 7850 = GTX 650 Ti BOOST > 7790 > GTX 650 Ti > 7770 > GTX 650 > 7750
Another option to consider if the motherboard you're looking at supports crossfire - get the good CPU you want up front and get an HD 7770 GPU (costs less than a GTX 650 ti, performs almost as well) and then when you have the money you could add a second HD 7770.
In games that support crossfire, 2x HD 7770 performs similarly to 1x HD 7970 up to 1920x1200 resolution (above that it gets painstakingly slow), draws less power than a single 7870 and costs less than a 660 ti.
