Is this a good gaming pc for the money

Motherboard- asus m5a99x evo r 2.0 socket am3

processor- Phenom ii x4 black edition 965 3.4ghz socket am3

hard drive- hdd 1tb sata 6

ram- patriot viper 3 8gb 2x4 1600mhz

graphics card- MSI Geforce GT640 1GB

case- NZXT phantom 410 mid tower

power supply- Ultra X4 750 watt fully modular power supply bronze rated

ram fan- Kingston hyper ram cooler blue

CPU fan- cooler master hyper 80mm X 80mm fan

case fans- cooler master 120mm blue led fans x5

Total $704

Cheaper case, like 1/2 of the cost of a phantom.

None of those aftermarket fans.

No memory fan.

Better cpu cooler.

Try a hyper 212 evo cooler, 7770 OR even 7850 if you have the money after the rearangement.

Thanks alot this was my first build you helped alot.

EDIT:

spenlard beat me to it!

Is the 1tb hdd good for now but in 6 months im getting a kingston 128gb ssd.

Yeah. You don't ever really even need an SSD tbh. They're nice though.

ok thanks for the help again time to build the computer.

P.S I am getting a gtx 550 and i got rid of the ram fan and the aftermarket fans. I am keeping the phantom because the price i found it for and for easy cable managment.

What price did you find it for...really for 700 this rig isn't looking super great.

Cheaper and way better performance for gaming.

thanks for the help and i found the case for 70 and free shipping a a seller from ebay. Its new and also the its not a bid its only buty now.

That's awesome for the price. I'd bump up the total price to accomodate it rather than switch stuff around and add it to the build I suggested.

ok yeah ill bump the price up alittle and get the case and what you recommed. And since you seem to know alot about custom pc building i was wondering in a few months for my birthday i was going to single sleeve my full pc. whats your thoughts on that.

this is my $700 build http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/p/wlKT

Thank you for the $700 build list.

no prob do you like it but it is the pcpartpicker canada not us so you can go and check the us site if you need it

Ditch all of those extra fans including ram and cpu, a coolermaster hyper212evo would be much better and fams for ram etc are not needed. the phantom410 comes with all the fans you need and has amazing airflow.

for your psu i would switch to either

and upgrade your gpu, you should be able to get in a 7870  and idk when you plan on building this but if your lucky a 660ti

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/wndH  That's what I'd recommend. The SSD is for your boot drive, this will make windows load faster/run faster, it is optional. If not than the total is  about ~$650, hope this helps!

Hey, I was wondering if this was an ok combination. The AMD FX 4100 CPU and the AMD Radeon HD 7870, will there be any bottlenecking issues, if so, how significant? I'm planning to stick to a budget of around $600-700 for a gaming PC, but I have most of my parts sorted, just worried about these two parts.

Instead of the amd FX 4100 I would recommed the FX 6100 it 6 dollars more and you get 2 more cores

i would go with either the 4300 or the 6300
