Is this a good budget build?

My budget is VERY tight so suggestions or improvements anyone could make cannot be too far out of the price range of $700 :)

Get a pci wi-fi card. Drop the asrockboard, grab a 970A ud3, if there's room left grab whatever 7870 is on sale.

What benefit would there be in getting a 970A ud3?

8+2 powerphase, quality components.

Upgraded build. I added a custom part because it's not listed on pcpartpicker.

GA-970A-UD3 dosent support AM3+ FX chips out of the box and needs a bios update to use them it will be 50/50 if you get one allready updated

if you dont your mobo will not boot up and you will need to buy a older am3 chip just to flash the bios

Whoa, that may have saved me from a lot of confusion. Thank you!

the Asrock 970 extreme3 has the same issue.50/50 hit or mis.

Asus M5A97 evo R2.0 ;)

I changed the ram you had listed becase its the worst performing ram i have ever tested

I changed your harddive to a 500gb drive bease its a lot faster than the 1tb green drive you had listed

And i changed your pc case for one thats much better and has a usb 3.0 slot on the case as yours dident

And swaped your mobo for one thats compatable and well made :)

And just a heads up VTX3D is one of the worst for reliabilty and support

My link kind of messed up, what RAM had I listed again?

And how are VTX3D bad for reliability and support? Any evidence behind that claim?

Does that mobo have FX bios support?

What is this, are you buying in Uk or US?

Ive had x3 vtx3d cards all busted and sent back+ you can read up on them if you wish

UK

Yeah so do you know about that mobo and its support?

So your budget is around 500 pounds?

Yeah, 550 is an option

Buy aftermarket cooler when you habe the money and you are good..

At least Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

As for the MB/CPu compatibility, I am really getting tired with this people and their stupid remarks, its like they have never flashed the MB BIOS in their lives.

Older MB's with 970 chipsets did not support fx cpu cause they didnt exist at the time, newer come with newer BIOS which supports FX cpu's. If in some strange miracle your 970 MB doesnt recognize the CPu and it wont boot, you can take it to any IT shop and they will flash your MB (it will take them 2 minutes, treat those guys with a beer) and you are good. Or if anu of your friend have PHenom II or Athlone cpu, you can take it from that flash the MB, swithc your fx cpu back and everything will be just finr. Just mak sure you download the newest version from the official website and make sure its the right bios for your MB

But like I said I doubt the MB will not recognize cpu.

Check the you tube to see how easy it is to flash MB with a new BIOS...

An idiot can do it...

Your in the uk? why ask for US parts?
