http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-ga78lmtusb3 it has one of the highest ratings on PCpartspicker, but it seems too cheap to be true, also, if you have a better board, make sure it is mircroATX AM3+ before posting
i will mainly be using it for gaming, no streaming, rendering or editing
Got one of these buried away in a system also with the 6300 and I must say its never had an issue (even with the odd ECC ram I have in it currently). Current rev's of it are actually black as well, not blue as PartPicker lists it.
Nope it sucks. I have a buddy that built on this. Has no UEFI and uses really bad VIA audio. I really can't recommend any boards in mATX for AM3+. Sorry not shitting on AMD. FX CPU's are great. But the boards in the mATX line all lack modern features that I feel at this point any motherboard should have. If you don't care about SATA 3, UEFI, or good overclocking. Then yes it will do fine.
In all honestly it probably will work, however if you want to upgrade to an 8 core at some point or even overclock it, you will need to get a 9 series motherboard, preferably a 990fx. And almost all amd mATX boards are garbage in the am3+ line...is your case not accept mATX? If you have too, this is what I would recommend, if you absolutely must, even though it would be way better to just use 970 or 990fx board. Also if you don't have the 6300 yet and you need a mATX mobo, you should look at the fm2+ line, they actually have some pretty good mATX mobo's.
If the board comes free, how bad is it that they're giving it away? Or at least that's my way of thinking. Add to that the 760 chipset is rather dated.
For recommendations.. I can't go any lower then the Asus M5A97 r2.0. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-m5a97r20
