Is there such a thing as a "Laptop Keyboard Adapter"?

I asked a while ago about chiclet butterfly keyboards and if they were a thing on desktop but I just had a thought... Is there such a thing to just take a laptop KB I like and plug it to a board and hook it up via USB? Has anyone seen such a thing? I had a laptop die recently and it has the best KB I have ever used and I am curious as to making it USB... Would be interesting.

thanks

Hmm... idk if that's a thing... But if you want a desktop keyboard with butterfly switches I recommend a Logitech k740.

Think you'd have to get a new controller board and solder the wires wherever, laptop keyboards are a pain in the sense that the controller board is integrated to the mobo - you'd have to reverse engineer it in a sense.

These do exist. This one on amazon is price gauged to hell, but you can find some on eBay and such for about as much as a mechanical keyboard or a bit less.

@thecaveman @dinscurge I appreciate the links but you guys need to get your hands on an IBM 600X or an HP NW8XXX/6XXX laptop and know why I want this sorta thing. Lol I guess I'll just have to wire it myself!

Check for things like Teensy++ breakouts or replacement controllers like Soarers converter for Model Ms but for laptops.
